Will Ospreay Reveals He Almost Died From Kidney Infection

Worse than initially thought

Will Ospreay suffered from a serious kidney infection earlier this year, with it being noted at the time that the IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion had been hospitalised. His temperature was said to be around 40 Degrees Celsius while he was unable to stand without feeling faint.

Ospreay's infection was more serious than initially known, though, and The Commonwealth Kingpin noted on Twitter that he almost died.

"So it's not really spoken about enough but May I nearly died. My infection was that serious. Came back in 2 weeks. 3 months from that point, tomorrow I'm in the G1 Final on NJPW 50th Anniversary. I wish I could hear your voices. But I'll fight with everything I've got," Ospreay tweeted

The former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion was pulled from RevPro's Epic Encounters show on May 22 due to the infection. Ospreay then returned to the ring on June 8 in All Elite Wrestling.

Ospreay's tweet comes after he defeated Tetsuya Naito in the G1 Climax 32 semifinal today. He will go one-on-one with former friend Kazuchika Okada in the final on August 18.
