WrestleMania 37 Begins With Weather Delay

Eventually there will be a show, one assumes

It's been touch and go with the weather so far in Tampa for WrestleMania 37, and as it stands right now, the opening match is going to have to wait.

After the singing of America the Beautiful, and the opening video package, Michael Cole informed the home audience that WrestleMania was in a weather delay. He did not give a timeframe as to when the show was likely to kick off.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful tweeted that personnel were tarping off the ring.

In the meantime, assorted talents and broadcasters backstage began filling airtime with promos and the like, while waiting out the inclement conditions.

In the late afternoon, gray clouds began forming over Raymond James Stadium, concurrent with reports of lightning in the vicinity. At that point, attendees were informed over the PA system to seek shelter under the covered concourse. Minutes later, the stadium's official Twitter announced that the gates and parking lot were being shut down for the time being.

Not long after, everything opened back up, and fans were permitted to return to their seats.
