Wrestling Is A 'Back-Up Plan' For Gage Goldberg
Goldberg's son isn't focusing on professional wrestling right now
Nov 30, 2024
The son of Hall Of Famer Bill Goldberg, Gage Goldberg, was seen recently in the crowd at Bad Blood 2024 when his father stepped up to try and fight World Heavyweight Champion Gunther, before being halted by security. It is clear to see why WWE would potentially be interested in making him a second-generation wrestler given his impressive size, though right now he is focusing on a football career.
Gage Goldberg is currently a linebacker for the University of Colorado, and explained in an interview with Sportskeeda WrestleBinge that he had considered following in his father’s footsteps, but only as a back-up plan.
“I mean yes and no for sure. Wrestling would be cool and being amped up and everything and having all the adrenaline, but then also I know my place right now is with football. So, I’m gonna live this out, I’ll see where that takes me,” Gage stated, emphasizing his commitment to his current athletic pursuit. “If it doesn’t work out, could be wrestling I don’t know. It’s a back-up plan.”
It was revealed in recent months that Goldberg would finally be handed his long-awaited retirement match by WWE, which will take place at some point in 2025.
