WWE, AEW Free To Run Shows At Full Capacity In Florida

Back on September 25, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced the Sunshine State would enter phase three of reopening, removing all capacity restrictions for sporting events. The Plan for Florida's Recovery does encourage venues to limit capacity with "limited social distancing protocols."  

The news resurfaced again yesterday as sports radio personality Andy Slater reported Governor DeSantis had given the Miami Dolphins clearance to host matches at full capacity. 

Slater tweeted: "SLATER SCOOP: Miami Dolphins have been given clearance to go to full capacity of 65,000 fans at Hard Rock Stadium, Gov. DeSantis' spokesperson tells me. The team, though, says their current plan of 13,000 fans remains the same for their next home game on Oct. 25."

The Communications Director for Governor DeSantis then clarified all sports venues are free to run at full capacity. 

They tweeted: "Just to be clear. Sports franchises, like most businesses under phase 3 can do as they see medically and safety wise in their best interests. There is no state clearance or anything of the sort."

This means WWE and AEW can run shows at full capacity at the Performance Center and Daily's Place if they wish. Fans won't be able to attend tapings of Raw and SmackDown for the time being, though, because of the company's agreement with the Amway Center. 

Both AEW and WWE have allowed fans to attend tapings in recent months. Daily's Place is currently running at 10-15 percent capacity while NXT has a mix of Superstars, fans, and friends and family in the audience at the Capitol Wrestling Center.
