Earlier this month on November 6, NXT headed to the 2300 Arena, the former home of ECW, for a special episode of WWE’s developmental brand. Several former ECW stars made their presence known at the show, such as The Dudley Boyz, RVD and Nunzio, among others. Notably, NXT defeated AEW Dynamite in the “ratings war” due to both shows taking place on the same night due to the US Election. Following on from the success of this special edition of NXT, it looks as though they might be headed back to the 2300 Arena in the future.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the plans for NXT to hold an ECW-themed show went back a little while, with the decision being made for November 6 when they learned they would be going head-to-head with AEW Dynamite. Additionally, Meltzer notes that there is now talk in WWE of making an ECW-themed NXT show an annual event. As a side note, Meltzer revealed Tony Khan had an idea to run a show at Club LaVela Nitro’s.

It was also revealed that WWE had intended to host their ECW-themed show at the Hammerstein Ballroom, but were unable to book the venue due to it being too close to when Tony Khan had booked it for ROH and Collision.
