After WWE NXT was moved because of coverage of the United States presidential election, a special ECW-themed episode of the show from 2300 Arena went head-to-head with AEW Dynamite on Wednesday, November 6.
Despite airing on a different day, NXT still beat AEW Dynamite in both the key 18-49 demographic and in total viewership. NXT averaged 619,000 viewers and a 0.17 rating on The CW, while AEW Dynamite in its usual time slot averaged 523,000 viewers and a 0.16 rating to draw Dynamite’s lowest-ever demo rating when airing on Wednesday nights from 8 pm to 10 pm ET.
AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT 2300 went head-to-head with the NBA game of Boston Celtics vs. Golden State Warriors on ESPN, while millions of viewers continued to tune into news stations following Donald Trump’s election as the 47th president of the United States.
WWE NXT aired as a nostalgia episode for ECW and featured several legends, including Rob Van Dam, The Dudley Boyz, Rhino, Dawn Marie, Francine, and Nunzio.
AEW Dynamite continued the build to Full Gear and key matches included Orange Cassidy and Darby Allin vs. Claudio Castagnoli and PAC, Adam Cole vs. Malakai Black, and Powerhouse Hobbs and Ricochet vs. Konosuke Takeshita and Kyle Fletcher.
