WWE today launched WWE Independent Development (WWE ID), a new developmental programme to assist independent wrestlers in potentially signing with the company.

As part of the programme, several independent wrestling schools will have 'WWE ID' designation, including those owned by current WWE talents. Designated schools include Booker T's Reality of Wrestling, Cody Rhodes' Nightmare Factory, Seth Rollins' Black and Brave Academy, Rikishi's KnokX Pro Academy, and the Elite Pro Wrestling Training Center.

WWE will also look to recruit WWE ID "prospects" who will be provided with assistance for training, mentorship, and development, as well as "financial opportunity." Fans will be able to follow WWE ID prospects through behind-the-scenes content across WWE's social platforms.

"WWE ID is the latest in our efforts to identify and support the journey of up-and-coming wrestlers, in turn raising the profile of and strengthening the independent wrestling ecosystem," WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H said.

WWE ID will have a similar set up to the company's 'Next In Line' programme that was launched in December 2021 to recruit college athletes. The athletes are not signed to full-time WWE deals but they receive access to the WWE Performance Center, as well as various resources like brand building and media training.
