WWE Launching NXT Europe

A big change in WWE

In an announcement with major implications for European professional wrestling, WWE revealed plans to launch NXT Europe in 2023 and the new brand will "reimagine the brand and talent pipeline" with a new focus on the continent.

NXT UK will go on hiatus "for a few months" following the just-announced Worlds Collide event between NXT and NXT UK on Sunday, September 4. Shawn Michaels told Fox News that WWE will work to make NXT Europe "bigger and better."

"Given the success of NXT UK, we felt like it was time to expand beyond that," Michaels said.

What the roster will be for NXT Europe has yet to be decided, with Michaels noting the decisions on who will be a part of NXT and NXT Europe will be made next year.

The WWE Hall of Famer also hinted the new brand could tour Europe, saying: "I remember all the times we went to Germany it was off the charts, just fantastic. But I don't know. I would love to kind of go to Venice, Italy, but that’s just me. But look with WWE and NXT, we just want to go and represent our brand across the world. I certainly have some favourite places I would like to go. Look, I think Paris, France would be pretty cool."

WWE's announcement follows the cancellation of NXT UK's next two sets of TV tapings which caused many to be worried that the brand was finished. WWE launched NXT UK back in December 2016. with the brand receiving its own show in the summer of 2018.
