Cody Rhodes has toyed with the idea here and there of a heel turn in WWE, though despite some teases of a darker and more aggressive side, nothing has, as of yet, surfaced on this front. On the back of a loss to Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship, and with some talk of Rhodes being the one who attacked Jacob Fatu last year to keep him out of action on SmackDown, don’t expect to see Rhodes become a true “American Nightmare” anytime soon.

On the Road To WrestleMania last year, The Rock’s attempted involvement in WWE creative saw a reported heel turn pitched for Cody Rhodes, with plans then switching to John Cena turning instead. This time around, The Rock is reportedly nowhere to be seen in creative discussions, and neither is any talk of a Rhodes heel turn.

According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is not planning a heel turn for Rhodes any time soon, and not until it feels right. It is also noted that there is no desire to start messing with Rhodes’ merchandise numbers as the top babyface in the company.
