WWE NXT Champion Finn Balor Undergoes Surgery

When he will return to the ring is unclear...

Following NXT TakeOver: 31, Finn Balor announced he had broken his jaw in two places after a devastating Knee Strike from Kyle O'Reilly. The Prince called for the match at TakeOver to end early and he didn't appear inside the Capitol Wrestling Center on last week's edition of NXT. Dr. Jeffrey Westerfield later noted Balor would be on the sidelines for "a little bit of time."

Balor has now revealed that he underwent surgery on October 9 to repair his broken jaw.

He wrote on Instagram: "Recovering from a successful surgery with @dr.anuppatel, @dr.edgarsosa and nurse @verolaguera. Last Friday, i underwent surgery for 2 fractures of my jaw, including one going into my tooth. After the tooth was removed, I was wired shut to restore my bite and help align the fractures. Then 3 plates where screwed in to fixate the fractures for a quick recovery. Thankfully no wires were needed after surgery!"

How long the NXT Champion will be out of action for is currently unknown.

Balor's injury comes at a difficult time for the black and gold brand. Both Karrion Kross and Tegan Nox have picked up injuries in recent months, and another name destined for the main event scene in Ridge Holland suffered terrible injuries last week and is expected to be on the shelf for up to a year.
