WWE Officials Reportedly Frustrated Adam Cole's Contract Expiration Has Become Public Knowledge

Cole's deal with WWE expires later this month

WWE officials have reportedly admitted to being frustrated that news regarding Adam Cole's contract situation in the company has become public knowledge.

It was reported earlier this week that Cole's WWE deal is set to expire the weekend of SummerSlam 2021 after the former leader of the Undisputed Era agreed a short-term extension to his contract.

It had been believed the 32-year-old's agreement with WWE was coming to an end in early 2022 but it has been reported it actually expired following NXT's The Great American Bash last month, with Cole agreeing to stay with WWE until NXT TakeOver 36 in order to wrap up ongoing storylines.

There has been no suggestion that the longest reigning NXT Champion in history will be remaining with WWE following the end of his deal but the situation becoming public knowledge has certainly made fans, other talent and other promotions aware that Cole could be set to depart the company.

PWInsider has reached out to officials within WWE who have admitted their surprise that Cole's contract is set to expire, having believed he was tied in until January 2022, and confessed to being frustrated that the situation has been put out into the public domain.

At a time where WWE are receiving criticism for their treatment of talent and use of NXT stars on the main roster, while the likes of CM Punk and Daniel Bryan are reportedly heading for AEW, losing Adam Cole in such a public manner will be another avoidable issue that the promotion now has to contend with.
