Finn Balor is set to challenge World Heavyweight Champion Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event, and this could be the first step of a sustained singles push for Balor in WWE.

The Judgment Day leader currently reigns as one half of the World Tag Team Champions, but a report from WrestleVotes states that Balor is seen as a true locker room leader in the promotion and a singles push is expected for Finn as we move into 2025.

During his time on WWE’s main roster Balor has reigned as Intercontinental Champion twice, and United States Champion once, as well as his ill-fated 24-hour reign as the inaugural Universal Champion in 2016.

Since forfeiting the Universal Championship, many fans have hoped Balor would get another chance to reign with one of WWE’s major singles titles, and whilst there’s no confirmation of a title run for Balor it can be assumed he will at least be in and around either of the major world title scenes throughout 2025.

Balor has been part of WWE for 10 years, initially signing as part of NXT in 2014 after a successful run in New Japan Pro-Wrestling as Prince Devitt. In NXT, Balor is a two-time NXT Champion.
