WWE Raw Hijacked By 'CM Punk' & 'Bray Wyatt' Crowd Chants

The live crowd made their feelings known during WWE Raw

In perhaps the most unsurprising news coming out of this week's episode of WWE Monday Night Raw, the live crowd from Chicago showed their displeasure at the release of Bray Wyatt and their love for hometown hero CM Punk throughout the show.

Chants for Punk - who left WWE in 2014 and has been heavily reported as joining AEW in the near future - reportedly began in the Allstate Arena before the show even started. Chants for the 'Best In The World' were heard during the Miz TV segment involving Damian Priest, the match between Doudrop and Tamina, and the No Holds Barred main event putting Raw Women's Champion Nikki A.S.H against Charlotte Flair.

Bray Wyatt was surprisingly released by WWE over the weekend, having not been used on any programming since April, and the live fans in Chicago showed their feelings about that decision loudly during Raw's opening segment, as WWE Hall Of Famer Goldberg went face-to-face with WWE Champion Bobby Lashley.

It is also worth noting that the live crowd also audibly chanted for Becky Lynch during Charlotte Flair's promo segment midway through the show. Flair, much like she did a couple of weeks ago, shut the crowd down by referencing their calls and claiming she was the reason the Allstate Arena was sold out.

The Chicago crowd has always been one of WWE's most vocal markets and chants for CM Punk in particularly have punctuated almost every WWE show in the city since he left the promotion over seven years ago, in what has become a go-to mantra in defiance of the WWE machine.

With such a passionate and emotional reaction from fans, superstars and other talent to Wyatt's release also, it is no surprise that the live crowd made clear their love for the former 'Fiend' either.
