WWE officials and higher-ups are reportedly operating under the belief that both Johnny Gargano and Kyle O'Reilly will depart the company this week.

As previously noted, Gargano and O'Reilly will see their respective WWE deals expire in December 2021. Both have been offered long-term contracts with the promotion but, at time of writing, neither have re-signed.

Fightful Select is now reporting that, despite WWE making it clear to both of the NXT stars that they wish to keep them on, officials are now operating on the assumption that neither of them will be around by the end of the week.

While other NXT talent have indicated they are yet to give their farewells to Gargano and O'Reilly, due to them being at NXT this week, one WWE higher-up indicated to Fightful that the current understanding is at least one of the two names will decide to outright leave WWE once they've had time to consider their options following the expiration of their deal.

Even if WWE were able to convince both to re-sign, the expectation is at least one would only be swayed after taking some time off.

Both Gargano and O'Reilly have been advertised for this week's NXT. O'Reilly is set to face Von Wagner in a Cage Match after Wagner tried to double-cross his partner at NXT WarGames on Sunday.

Gargano, meanwhile, has promised fans he will be 100 per cent honest with them as he tells them 'everything', having made the assurance in a post-WarGames promo.
