WWE SmackDown Ratings Up For December 20th Episode

Still struggling in the 18-49 demo...

On the December 20th episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Carmella defeated Sonya Deville, Heavy Machinery faced The Revival in a Miracle On 34th Street match, and Daniel Bryan teamed with The Miz against King Corbin & Dolph Ziggler.

According to ShowBuzzDaily, SmackDown's viewership also increased as Friday's episode averaged 2.414 million viewers, up three percent from the December 13th episode which averaged 2.339 million.

During the first hour, SmackDown averaged 2.493 million viewers but this dropped to 2.336 million by the time the main event began.

The episode also improved in key demographics. The show garnered a 0.70 rating amongst 18-49-year-olds, an eight percent increase from the previous episode. SmackDown also had a 0.45 rating amongst 18-34-year-olds, making it the most popular show on TV for that age group.

The rating in the 18-49 demographic will continue to underwhelm FOX, however. Bryan Alvarez explained on Wrestling Observer Live that FOX executives were expecting SmackDown to average a 1.0 in this demo, but so far the blue brand has not come close to that, averaging a 0.675 rating.
