Ever since WWE’s merger and takeover, the promotion has embarked on far more major international shows, hosting premium live events over the last few years in countries such as England, Scotland, France, Germany, Australia, and Saudi Arabia, in addition to embarking on several international weekly TV events too.
WWE President Nick Khan has revealed another destination that the company is intending to head to for what is described to be a “flagship event”. When speaking to the Hindustan Times, Khan expressed his aim to bring India a major show in either 2026 and 2027.
“That’s the goal, and we’re pencilling out 2026 and 2027 now. In one of our first meetings with Netflix after the deal was signed. Without asking, Netflix handed us a list of their priority countries. At the top of that list was India. And knowing that the race would come into play on April 1 in India, if it’s important to Netflix, assume it’s important to us. India has always been important to us. So we’re pencilling it out now, and let’s wait and see.”
India has forever been a major market for WWE, hosting special events in the country in the past, but never a major premium live event. WWE’s deal with Netflix is kicking off in India at the start of next month.
