There is unhappiness within WWE following Hulk Hogan's return to Monday Night Raw during the flagship show's premiere on Netflix on January 6.

Hogan's appearance on Raw was a disaster as the WWE Hall of Famer was booed out of the Intuit Dome even while he talked about how the fans had always been behind him. The boos for Hogan only grew louder as the segment continued, with it coming to an end after Hogan described Netflix as the greatest tag team partner WWE could have and ripped his shirt to reveal a WWE-Netflix t-shirt underneath.

The main talking point in mainstream media following Raw was the boos for Hogan, with it being mentioned in Variety and on CNN. According to Fightful Select, many within WWE were unhappy that Hogan being booed was a common talking point after what was such an important night for the company.

Reports have noted that Hogan didn't expect to be booed during his first in-person appearance on WWE TV in two years. Fightful further added that Hogan was "surprised and disappointed" by the booing but he brushed it off backstage. A number of people within WWE reportedly brought up the possibility that Hogan could be booed on the show.

Hogan also allegedly believes that politics was behind him being booed. The 71-year-old has been a prominent supporter of Donald Trump and was featured heavily during Trump's campaign ahead of the United States presidential election. Hogan even disembarked a plane ahead of his Raw appearance wearing a Maga Powers t-shirt.

Although Fightful could not confirm if Hogan believed him being booed was due to politics, they noted nobody they spoke to was disillusioned enough to believe that was the only reason Hogan was booed.

Hogan ultimately has a history of making racist remarks, with audio that leaked in 2015 revealing that he used the N-word to describe his daughter Brooke's then-boyfriend. Hogan also made a racist remark about Vice President Kamala Harris in 2024.

A source within WWE noted to Fightful that they believe the company will consider the context in which they use Hogan moving forward. Separate reports have claimed that WWE and Hogan have already held talks about the Hulkster being booked as a heel for future appearances.
