The TNA World Championship wasn't actually created until five years after Jeff Jarrett and co. founded Total Nonstop Action Wrestling as TNA had utilised the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship as their top belt.
That all changed in May 2007, when the relationship between TNA and the National Wrestling Alliance came to an end, with TNA crowning their first-ever world champion later that same day.
As this is TNA, however, the belt was immediately vacated so their second-ever champion could be crowned at Slammiversary. Because TNA.
Despite its troublesome beginnings, the TNA World Championship is now one of the most prestigious titles in all of professional wrestling.
