CM Punk Rejected WWE Rip-Off Of 'Cult Of Personality'

CM Punk almost had a rip-off version of 'Cult of Personality' in WWE.

The former WWE Champion has used Living Colour's 'Cult of Personality' as his entrance music since 2011, even using it during his brief stint in UFC. Punk previously used 'This Fire Burns' in WWE and before he switched to the Living Colour song, the company wanted to create entrance music similar to 'Cult of Personality', according to Living Colour's Corey Glover. Punk rejected this, though, and he ultimately used the real deal. 

"Like I said, back in the day when Punk was first going to WWF, they were like, 'Okay, so we're gonna get you your own entrance music.' He's like, 'No, I already have entrance music.' He made it a point that I'm not changing my entrance music. Because they had their own music division of the WWF and they were gonna have somebody make up a song that sounded similar to Cult of Personality. But that was gonna be his entrance music. 'No, I don't want that. I want the real thing.' He’s like one of the talent that actually got that in his contract that wherever he goes, that goes with him... Car payments are good because of CM Punk," Glover said on Drinks with Johnny.

As mentioned, CM Punk did not use 'Cult of Personality' when he debuted in WWE in 2006 but he did from 2011. The 45-year-old still uses the song to this day. 

Punk continues to appear on WWE TV, although he has not wrestled since suffering a torn triceps in the 2024 Royal Rumble back in January. Punk has continued to cut promos about Drew McIntyre and he was on commentary for the World Heavyweight Title match at WrestleMania 40, ultimately costing McIntyre the championship via Damian Priest's Money in the Bank cash-in only minutes after McIntyre won the belt from Seth Rollins.
