NFL Network's Reaction To Tony Khan Comparing WWE To Harvey Weinstein Revealed

Tony Khan's "Harvey Weinstein" comments haven't landed him in hot water with the NFL Network

Tony Khan’s appearance on the NFL Network last night caused a lot of headlines and plenty of chatter. His comments saw him refer to AEW as the “Pepsi” of the wrestling world, whereas WWE were branded as the “Harvey Weinstein” of pro wrestling. This was of course fairly controversial due to Weinstein being the former Hollywood producer convicted of sex offences and is currently incarcerated.

"AEW, we've been doing this for five years, we are the most successful sports start-up since the AFL, pre-merger. There has not been a challenger brand that has gained as much market share as AEW in many many years. We are like the Pepsi of pro wrestling. We're up against an evil juggernaut. WWE is our competitor, that's who we're facing. AEW, like the Pepsi of pro wrestling. WWE is like the Harvey Weinstein of pro wrestling. I'm really proud of what we do down here."

Khan was cut off by the hosts and the subject was swiftly changed, though a report from Fightful Select portions has stated that there is no backlash, and in fact the reaction from the NFL Network was positive from Khan’s appearance. It was explained that the NFL Network knew Khan’s appearance would garner attention due to his neck brace, and they were happy despite the controversial line.
