Released WWE Talent Joins TNA Wrestling
TNA Wrestling have acquired a released WWE talent
The September 5 edition of TNA IMPACT! saw the airing of a vignette hyping up the newest addition to the vaunted Knockouts division, with it believed that a former WWE talent will soon be making their way to the IMPACT Zone.
The vignette showed an obscured character in a wide-brimmed hat posing next to flames, with a voiceover speaking in Mandarin stating:
“The initial spark is a symbol of my awakening. And from this point on there is no turning back.”
The vignette ended with a ‘coming soon’ announcement, before the flashing of a traditional Chinese paper hand fan, seemingly heralding the arrival of Xia Zhao - fka Xia Li in WWE - with a tattoo on the inner bicep matching one of Zhao’s.
Zhao was released by WWE in April 2024, and returned to the indies after the conclusion of her no-compete period, wrestling for West Coast Pro at the Queen of the Indies event on August 17. It is currently unknown when Zhao will make her TNA debut.
During her time in WWE, Zhao was a part of the NXT, SmackDown, and Raw brands, having joined WWE in 2017 after impressing on a company scouting trip in Shanghai, China.
