AEW Files New Wrestler Trademark For 'The Clone'

AEW have filed a trademark for a new character; ‘The Clone’

All Elite Wrestling have filed a trademark for a new character, with papers submitted to the US Patent & Trademark Office suggesting ‘El Clon’ could be on their way to the organisation.

AEW filed two trademarks for the potential new character on September 5, with the names ‘El Clon’ and ‘The Clone’ filed under the description:

‘Entertainment services, namely, live appearances by a professional wrestler; Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer.’

At the time of writing, no performer has been associated with ‘El Clon’/‘The Clone’, and it remains to be seen when and if the character will come to life.

AEW have been branching out into original characters and IPs a little more in 2024, with the promotion unveiling the original character Hologram to the world during the Summer, the gimmick a new identity for luchador Aramis. AEW also sought to rename Black Taurus to The Beast Mortos upon signing with the promotion in January 2024, with the Black Taurus name property of Lucha Libre AAA. Long-serving AEW star Penta el Zero M also had to tweak their name as the Pentagon Jr. name is also owned by AAA.
