Report: AEW Didn't Reach Out To AJ Styles Prior To Him Signing New WWE Deal

Styles re-signed with WWE this past week

AJ Styles recently committed his long-term future to WWE, quashing any hope that ‘The Phenomenal One’ would become ‘All Elite’ in the next few years.

However, whilst AEW is often rumoured to sign any and every wrestler on the planet, Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that AEW didn’t reach out to Styles prior to AJ signing his new deal with WWE:

“As best we can tell there were no AEW overtures with Styles. When AEW started, the idea was for the final angle on the first TV show to be Gallows & Anderson & Styles to come out with the Young Bucks & Omega and turn on them to start the first main event faction feud. But the impression we had at the time is Styles wasn’t that interested as he was making big money here [WWE] and at the time nobody knew if AEW would make it, plus there’s the idea Styles is one of those guys who will get a job here after wrestling.”
