Report: Parties Interested In Buying ROH

Is a sale on the way?

While Ring Of Honor are set to return from their self-imposed hiatus on Friday, April 1 with Supercard Of Honor, rumours about the promotion possibly being sold continue to swirl.

Fightful Select have reported that on Tuesday afternoon, people from multiple promotions informed them overtures had been made to Ring Of Honor about a possible sale or partnership. Several former ROH talents and others who had been connected with the promotion also heard a possible sale was "still on the table."

Even before the promotion went on hiatus, though, parties had inquired about how much it would cost to buy ROH and there were "way more bidders than expected," with multiple wrestling companies and media organisations having held talks in the past.

How much exactly it would cost to purchase ROH is unclear, though, and three different prices have been rumoured over the past two years.

A higher-up in another company noted they had been told $40 million was a discussed price point by someone claiming to be in talks over buying Ring Of Honor in early 2020. A person close to ROH claimed the price was $20 million, though.

A rich fan not involved in the industry has also tried to buy ROH more recently than 2020 and they were quoted $30 million for 50 percent of the promotion.

Ring Of Honor is currently owned by the Sinclair Broadcasting Group and the promotion has been owned by the media conglomerate since they bought ROH from Cary Silkin in 2011.
