Road Dogg Returns To WWE In Executive Role

Oh, you didn't know?

Brian "Road Dogg" James is back with WWE in an executive position, according to a report from PWInsider, and corroborated by Dave Meltzer.

PWInsider's report notes that James, "... is not backstage at tonight's Raw but the word is making the rounds he's back."

Meltzer's update says, "Road Dogg back with WWE. Another former key NXT person may be back as well."

James' return comes after Paul Levesque has gained more power behind the scenes following the retirement of Vince McMahon in July. Levesque heads up both the talent relations and creative departments of WWE.

James was released from WWE in January during a round of cuts. At the time, he was working backstage in NXT. James was also at one time the head writer of SmackDown.

Last month on Busted Open Radio, James said, "For a while there, it was hands off and I could just write the SmackDown I wanted to write -- with help, of course. Then it got back to the old corporate ways. I would love to go back to NXT. I don't think I want to go back to the main roster. I'd love to go somewhere that I have something to offer."
