You probably had the feeling that Asuka wasn't going away empty handed, but you also kinda figured that she wasn't winning both belts. This way, whoever lost their title to Asuka could take out their ensuing bitterness on their partner, the one that retained their gold.
Bayley edged out Asuka in the evening's opener, which kinda telegraphed how the second match was going to play out. Sure enough, Sasha Banks wasn't so lucky in her own defense, falling short to the Asuka Lock, and seemed emotionally numb during Bayley's post-match consolation talk.
