AEW Believe Kazuchika Okada & Mercedes Moné Will Be Signing Soon

The signings of Kazuchika Okada and Mercedes Moné expected by AEW

Whilst some criticise how effectively they’re utilised, there’s no arguing that All Elite Wrestling has one of the strongest rosters in professional wrestling history, with AEW looking to strengthen it further with the signings of major free agents Kazuchika Okada and Mercedes Moné.

Whilst nothing has been confirmed yet as to the future of Okada or Moné, a report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter suggests that AEW are growing in confidence of securing both signatures.

Moné to AEW has been quietly considered as good as a done deal for some time, especially after WWE ended talks about bringing Moné back into the fold after a short but successful run in New Japan Pro-Wrestling. Moné was shown in the crowd at AEW’s massive All In Wembley Stadium show in August 2023, with Meltzer suggesting that her arrival in AEW was expected before even then, although talks broke down and then restarted in late 2023.

The former WWE Women’s Champion has been out of action with injury for months, but is reportedly back in training ahead of a comeback, and if Moné to AEW is indeed on, then Meltzer suggests that her debut will be played ‘extremely big’, and likely announced soon.

As for Okada, after announcing his departure from New Japan in mid-January, reports emerged that he had agreed a deal with WWE, although this was later dismissed as ‘premature’. Meltzer reports that those in AEW range from ‘hopeful to I’d perceive as confident’ that the legendary ‘Rainmaker’ will be joining the company, with it suggested that a potential AEW arrival for Okada could come at Revolution in March, with his final NJPW match set for February 24.

Again, until either talent is shown in an AEW ring anything could happen. But Tony Khan has been bubbling with excitement about the state of AEW heading into 2024, with the imminent arrival of Will Ospreay another name set to make a splash in the company.
