It’s no secret that All Elite Wrestling has a massive talent roster, with the promotion splitting talent across three AEW TV shows, plus the Ring of Honor brand.

However, a report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter suggests that it seems that such a large roster is leading to some feelings of frustration.

The age old problem with many large wrestling companies is there isn’t enough TV time for everyone, and despite AEW’s multiple broadcast shows it appears to be a problem within their walls too. Meltzer’s report notes that even on the surface the AEW roster is too big, with it opined that there are ‘far too many older wrestlers and not enough younger wrestlers’, with the younger wrestlers especially not afforded ample TV time to hone their craft and improve.

Whilst AEW’s lack of a house show loop has been seen as beneficial in terms of not causing burnout amongst the roster, it denies many wrestler vital in-ring minutes, no matter their position on the card. AEW have made some talent releases in 2024 - their first since coming into existence - but AEW President Tony Khan has also promised to aggressively sign game-changing free agents for the remainder of the year, when such opportunities become available.
