AEW Suffering From 'Bad' Ticket Advances For Dynamite, Collision Tapings

AEW's struggles for Dynamite and Collision tapings continue

All Elite Wrestling's struggles to move tickets for tapings of Dynamite and Collision have continued into 2024.

The promotion suffered from poor ticket advances, particularly in the second half of 2023, only for sales to improve in the final days before a show due to late walk-up purchases. According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, this lulled AEW into a false sense of security of "Okay, the advances suck but it's not that bad." Meltzer noted, however, that the situation is now "that bad" for upcoming shows.

"There was a lot of weak advances in the last quarter (Q4 2023) but they had a lot of the shows where they got late buys, whether it was bringing in Okada or Mistico at the end, or having MJF vs. Kenny Omega, or just got local promotion, or lowering ticket prices. I kind of got whatever the word, they kind of got lulled into this sense of 'Okay, the advances suck but it's not that bad.' It really wasn't that bad the last quarter. Now it's that bad and it looks worse," Meltzer said.

In the latest updates from WrestleTix, only 1,777 tickets had been distributed for Wednesday night's edition of Dynamite in Savannah, Georgia. Saturday night's Collision will emanate from Bossier City, Louisiana but only 1,263 tickets have been distributed for the event. Only 1,449 tickets have been distributed for the January 31 taping of Dynamite in New Orleans.

While AEW are struggling to move tickets, the promotion is still looking to recruit top talents, including Kazuchika Okada.
