Aleister Black Reveals Post-WWE Release Phone Call With Paul Heyman
Heyman caught up with Black following his release
Jun 9, 2021
Aleister Black revealed on the latest edition of Oral Sessions that Paul Heyman phoned the former NXT Champion following his release.
"He [Paul Heyman] reached out to me on the day that it happened. It was very sad. Paul has always said to me, 'Tom, I think you're five years ahead of the business.' He's like, 'As brilliant as I think you are, I think that's also sometimes your biggest issue is that you're so far ahead mentally that people have to catch up to it' and he still now, he still believes. He's like, 'I still believe you're gonna do great things' and you know, we're far from done. I am absolutely far from done," Black said.
It's no secret that Heyman is a big fan of Black and The Harbinger Of Fury was one of the SmackDown "catering crew" that the former ECW owner planned to build Monday Night Raw around during his time as executive director.
Black received a push from Heyman and he amassed a 29-1 record during the latter's run as Raw Executive Director. The former NXT Champion was also in the conversation to win the 2020 Royal Rumble but WWE went with Drew McIntyre instead.
