Big Bill Admits He Initially Didn't Like AEW Name Change
Big Bill wasn’t a fan of his AEW name change at first

A gimmick change is a big deal for a wrestler, with a change in appearance, personality, and even name a make or break move.
One wrestler who has had several names during his career is that of Big Bill, with the Learning Tree ‘Redwood’ having gone by Big Cass in WWE, and W. Morrissey in TNA. Upon joining All Elite Wrestling full time in 2022, Big Bill was born, and during an appearance on Talk is Jericho, Bill revealed he wasn’t enamoured with the moniker at first:
“In my first week here, MJF told me. A few people asked me ‘What do you think of the name Big Bill?’. At first, I was like ‘I really don’t like that.'” Big Bill said. “They were like ‘Its Tony [Khan]’s idea and Tony loves it’. And I said ‘It's fantastic! I love it!’
“You’ve gotta check your ego. I don’t know, at first, but I have to go with someone else’s opinion. This is the guy that books the company, that sacked up and put his money down to start the company. Maybe he knows better? I started going with it and guess what? It caught on! So who knew better?”
Big Bill certainly has his fans, with the UK fans during All In 2024 weekend giving the former AEW World Tag Team Champion a rapturous welcome.
