Former WWE wrestler Billy Jack Haynes has been arrested, expected to be charged with murder
Billy Jack Haynes has been arrested, with the charges expected to be for the murder of his wife, Janette Becraft. On Thursday, police were called to his address after reports of gunfire, and a stand-off proceeded to take place with an “uncooperative” Billy Jack Haynes, real name William Albert Haynes.
He was taken to a hospital to be treated for an undisclosed medical condition, but the expectation is that once released from hospital, he will be charged, as noted by Portland police in a statement, “Once he is released from the hospital, which may be days from now, he is expected to be booked into jail. Haynes’ charges will be released once he is booked.”
Following the stand-off, police found Becraft dead inside the house with a wound inflicted by gunshot, which was deemed as a homicide.
70 year old Haynes is a retired wrestler who formerly competed in WWE, with his most notable moment coming when he faced Hercules at WrestleMania 3. Haynes was previously involved in a lawsuit against WWE for their mistreatment of wrestlers and denial of research into brain injuries suffered by wrestlers. This case was dismissed.
