Buff Bagwell Arrested For DUI Earlier This Month

Former WCW star Buff Bagwell was arrested earlier this month. 

WrestlingNews.co (citing Cobb County records in Marietta, Georgia) revealed that Bagwell was arrested on July 13. He was pulled over for speeding, which is a misdemeanour, then charged with Driving Under the Influence of Drugs (also a misdemeanour). 

He was released from jail on July 15. 

The 53-year-old's struggles with addiction and substance abuse have been well documented. Bagwell made the decision last year to seek help and attempt recovery with the aid of Diamond Dallas Page and entered rehab after a relapse. 

In March, he noted that he had been six months clean (with his sobriety date being August 27). The former WCW Tag Team Champion planned to undergo knee replacement surgery in the hopes of one day making an in-ring comeback, believing he had 'one more run' left in him. 

Last month, Bagwell revealed that a Dark Side of the Ring episode focusing on his life and career was in the works. 

UPDATE: Buff Bagwell has since clarified the reason for his arrest, tweeting the following:

“Just wanted to clarify to everyone that I am 11 months sober (tomorrow). I see there is news out that I had to spend time in jail for a DUI but this was from the original offense years ago.  I did get a recent sanction because I didn’t document a recent trip out of state properly.”
