Cameron Grimes Wins Million Dollar Title At NXT TakeOver 36

NXT's richest man is a bit richer tonight

Cameron Grimes is the new Million Dollar champion, after defeating LA Knight in the opening match of NXT TakeOver 36 in Orlando.

Ted Dibiase played a part in the finish. As Knight went to use the belt as a weapon, Grimes struck him with a high kick. On the outside, Dibiase slugged Knight and snared him into his patented Million Dollar Dream. With Knight worn down, Grimes finished him off with his Cave-In.

Had Grimes lost the match, Dibiase would've had to be Knight's butler for an indefinite time.

Grimes is the sixth different individual to hold the Million Dollar title since its inception in 1989. Aside from Knight and Dibiase himself, other holders include Virgil, Steve Austin, and Ted Dibiase Jr.

The win gives Grimes his first championship of any sort in WWE.

Knight's reign with the title ends after just 70 days, the shortest reign in the history of the unofficial title. He won the reactivated belt at TakeOver: In Your House on June 13, defeating Grimes in a ladder match to earn the belt.
