Carlito has admitted he is unsure whether he has a future in WWE, after making a surprise return at the 2021 Royal Rumble.
Carlito appeared on WWE programming for the first time in ten years at the 2021 pay-per-view event, having been released by the company in 2010 for first violation of the WWE Wellness Program and his subsequent refusal to attend a rehabilitation facility.
The 41-year-old admitted his departure from WWE had left a bitter taste in his mouth and he was excited to have the opportunity to reappear last month, and make amends for the wrongs from a decade ago.
Speaking on the After The Bell Podcast, he said: "What brought me back... I just didn't like the way things ended. I didn't expect it to take 10 years to get back. I just wanted to, at least if I came back one time, I just wanted to leave a better taste, feel like... bury the hatchet or whatever.
"Just everything is on the up and up, you know, happy to be back, happy to be around, and if that was my last time, I was just glad to finally get a chance to come back and end on better terms."
Carlito would feature in a tag-team match the following night on Raw, teaming up with Jeff Hardy to take on Elias and Jaxson Ryker, but the Colón is uncertain if he has any further role to play for WWE.
The Superstar is open to more work with the company but says, should his Raw appearance be his last, he is happy with how he signed off.
Carlito added: "We'll see what the future holds. I don't know. If the conditions are right, I'd love to be back. My whole goal was to go away, take a breather and come back.
"I feel like I already did what I wanted to do. End things on a better note. If I came back, my goal was to be a better Carlito, be a better performer in my own way, and be a better person too."
