Carmelo Hayes Explains Why He Turned On Trick Williams At WWE NXT Vengeance Day

Carmelo Hayes reveals why he betrayed Trick Williams on WWE NXT

It had always been in Carmelo Hayes' nature.

WWE NXT Vengeance Day ended with a major angle as following his unsuccessful attempt to win the NXT Championship, Trick Williams was left lying after Carmelo Hayes turned on his tag team partner. Hayes initially looked set to end the night alongside Williams but the former NXT Champion suddenly walked behind Trick and took him out with a chop block. Melo then hit Trick again and again with a steel chair before he stood tall to end the premium live event as boos filled the arena.

Hayes explained his actions on the February 6 edition of WWE NXT, revealing he turned on Trick because of Williams' pursuit of the NXT Championship, with Melo claiming that Trick did so behind Hayes' back. Melo then confirmed he was the man who attacked Williams back in October and Hayes looked set to pay for his actions as Trick's music filled the WWE Performance Center. It was simply Hayes doing a 2005 Shawn Michaels in Montreal, however, and Hayes confirmed soon after that Williams "was in the hospital" with Booker T.

The former NXT Champion then questioned why people were so surprised by his heel turn, saying that he has always been this way. Hayes ended the promo by claiming that he and Williams were not the same and that Trick would forever and always just be his hype man.
