Chris Charlton will be back on commentary for New Japan Pro-Wrestling in just under a month.
Just before the broadcast for NJPW New Beginning in Osaka went off the air, NJPW's English-language play-by-play commentator Walker Stewart noted he could finally say Chris Charlton's name and that his colleague would be returning to the commentary table at the NJPW 53rd Anniversary show on March 6.
Chris Charlton has been away from the commentary desk since he made anti-AEW comments during Kenny Omega vs. Gabe Kidd at NJPW x AEW Wrestle Dynasty on January 5. Charlton called Tony Khan a "money mark", unfavourably compared the AEW Continental Classic to the NJPW G1 Climax, and questioned what Kazuchika Okada, Will Ospreay, and Jay White had done since leaving NJPW for AEW.
Charlton was absent from the following day's New Year Dash broadcast and reports revealed that he had been suspended for two months by NJPW. The decision to suspend Charlton was made by Bushiroad CEO Takaaki Kidani for insulting a business partner and while they did not have input in Charlton's suspension, AEW were reportedly unhappy with his comments.
Elsewhere at NJPW New Beginning in Osaka, Hirooki Goto finally reached the top of the mountain in New Japan as he defeated Zack Sabre Jr. for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.
