The relationship between AEW and GCW has been up in the air ever since Effy’s comments about Tony Khan reportedly led to Ricky Starks being taken off announced GCW dates by AEW. Former GCW World Champion Matt Cardona’s recent appearances in ROH and AEW have suggested some healing between the two sides, though with Cardona being a free agent, there was no guarantee of AEW and GCW patching things up.

At GCW’s Highest In The Room 3 event last night at the Ukrainian Culture Center in Los Angeles, California, Matt Cardona took on Effy in a match that was originally slated to feature Starks. A masked man appeared during the match, attacking Matt Cardona with a baseball bat and allowing Effy to score the win.

This was revealed to be none other than the current reigning Ring Of Honor World Champion and AEW wrestler Chris Jericho, who is scheduled to defend his gold against Cardona at the upcoming ROH Final Battle PPV at the Hammerstein Ballroom - the event in question which led to Effy making untoward comments about Tony Khan and his father due to GCW running the same venue soon too.
