Christian Cage Surprised By Samoa Joe's WWE Release

"He truly is, in my eyes, a top performer"

The professional wrestling world was stunned last week after Samoa Joe was released by WWE. Although The Samoan Submission Machine hasn't stepped in the ring since early 2020 because of injury, he is still regarded as one of the best wrestlers in the world by many and his release surprised both Kurt Angle and Booker T.

All Elite Wrestling's Christian Cage can also be added to the list of surprised people and he described Joe as "a top performer" during an interview with Bleacher Report.

"That surprised me. Joe is a super-talented guy. You see it in the ring, and obviously he has tremendous verbal skills. He was a natural as a commentator as well. When you have that kind of multi-talented individual who can wear a lot of hats, that's invaluable. He truly is, in my eyes, a top performer. He's not going to have any shortage of suitors when the time comes, that's for sure," Captain Charisma said.

Where Joe will land next remains to be seen, but he may well opt to rekindle his feud with Christian in AEW. The two have a history in the ring from their time in TNA and they had multiple impressive matches opposite each other between 2006 and 2008.
