Christopher Daniels didn't want his in-ring retirement to be a big deal

Although there has been no official announcement, it is believed that Christopher Daniels had his final ever professional wrestling match on Saturday's episode of AEW Collision.
Daniels faced Hangman Page in a Texas Death Match on Collision, ultimately losing the match following a Deadeye on a steel chair and a Buckshot Lariat to the back of the head from Hangman. After the match, Page added insult to injury by hitting Daniels with the Angel's Wings.
The Texas Death Match was not advertised or pushed as Daniels' retirement match by All Elite Wrestling but the Wrestling Observer has reported that was because 'the Fallen Angel' made the call to not make a big deal out of his career ending.
Talent backstage at Thursday night's Collision taping were under the impression that Daniels was retiring and the 54-year-old was very emotional when he arrived backstage following his match.
Daniels will reportedly be a guest on Talk is Jericho this week to discuss his retirement.
Daniels began his career back in 1993 and he is primarily associated with Ring of Honor and TNA, where he helped pioneer the style of pro wrestling that is popular today alongside the likes of AJ Styles, Bryan Danielson, Samoa Joe and others. Daniels ends his career as a former ROH World Champion, four-time TNA X-Division Champion, and multi-time tag team champion with Frankie Kazarian, AJ Styles, Swerve Strickland, James Storm, and as part of Triple X in TNA with Low Ki and Elix Skipper.
