Cody Rhodes Addresses WrestleMania Main Event Rumours

Cody Rhodes has responded to rumours around the WrestleMania 40 main event

With the return of The Rock a few weeks back at WWE Monday Night RAW Day 1, rumours and uncertainty around the main event of WrestleMania 40 have been running wild. For the longest time, the consensus among fans was that it would be Cody Rhodes to challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship following his loss last year, and whilst some reports have indicated that to still be the case, there has also been some speculation regarding The Rock.

Cody Rhodes returned to his home state of Atlanta after this January 19 episode of Friday Night SmackDown went off the air, defeating Shinsuke Nakamura in a dark match. Following the bell, Rhodes took to the mic to address the WrestleMania main event rumours, doubling down that he is the best man for the job and is still looking to win the top prize in WWE.

“Atlanta is my hometown. I’ve done some silly stuff here. Jumped off of a cage that was too high, set myself on fire, got into a fight with Brock Lesnar. I’ve done a few silly things. But all of them were in the efforts to give this city, the town, the community that raised me something to remember. When you’re home, you share things that only you would share at home. Here’s one. There is only one thing that makes me tired of coming home. The only thing that makes me tired when coming home is coming home empty-handed.

“I think we need to change that. I am not immune to all the news, everything that’s happening, what will happen, what won’t happen. All I can tell you is this. I’m the right man for the job. I’m the best man for the job. I’m heading into the Royal Rumble, I’m gonna go back-to-back, and I’m gonna bring a championship back home to Atlanta.”

Rhodes is currently scheduled for the Men’s Royal Rumble match next week at the Royal Rumble PLE.
