Cody Rhodes Hopes WWE NXT Do Something Special With The Great American Bash

He doesn't want it to end up like Starrcade...

NXT's next major event will take place tonight as night one of The Great American Bash 2020 will be broadcast from Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida. The show will go head to head with night one of Fyter Fest 2020 and All Elite Wrestling Executive Vice President Cody Rhodes recently appeared on Busted Open Radio to discuss the show.

The conversation eventually turned to The Great American Bash and Cody said he hopes WWE do something special with the old WCW pay-per-view and avoid what they have done with Starrcade.

The American Nightmare said: "I would hope that they do something special with it. I think our show is better. I think it will be better in execution but I hope that they do something special with it because I hated what Michael Hayes did with Starrcade. He took a creation of my dad's and he made it a live event because they weren't selling any tickets in North Carolina and he wanted to save his job.

"That was disappointing to me in terms of the premier event of World Championship Wrestling and the NWA and you did what you did with it. And the same, I hope is not what happens with The Great American Bash. I'm not upset at anything that brings my dad's name in a positive light. Is it a weird feeling? For sure, but I've also been in a tag match with my brother competing, ratings-wise, against the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. One guy who I never mind competing with is my own dad. I'll never mind that, and The Great American Bash, it is what it is and I hope that they do something positive with it."
