Colt Cabana Says Chris Jericho Asked To Face Him In AEW Return Match

Colt Cabana on his match with Chris Jericho

It appears fans have Chris Jericho to thank for Colt Cabana's AEW return.

Cabana had been away from All Elite Wrestling since March 2022, having been banished to Ring of Honor after signing a new deal with AEW. Cabana's banishment was rumoured to be the work of CM Punk but both Punk and Tony Khan have denied that is the case.

Yet, as soon as further doubt arose about CM Punk's future with AEW, Cabana suddenly reappeared on Dynamite, challenging Chris Jericho for the ROH World Championship on November 2.

Speaking about the match on the Work of Wrestling podcast, Cabana stated that Chris Jericho requested the match with him.

"I never talked to Tony [Khan] until I was in Gorilla (position), so it wasn't a call from Tony Khan. The travel called me up and said, 'You're needed for Baltimore, Maryland.' I assumed it was to wrestle Chris Jericho. I think the travel told me, 'Chris Jericho is requesting your presence in Baltimore.' So, I wrestled Chris. I'm under contract, they tell me to show up, I showed up. They tell me who I'm wrestling, I wrestle. If they want me to wrestle again, I'll wrestle again. if they want me to agent again, I'll agent again, whatever," Cabana said.

Cabana hasn't been back in action since the Dynamite match. He is expected to wrestle at ROH Final Battle on December 10.
