WWE Crown Jewel 2021
Well, wasn’t this a pleasant surprise?
WWE’s offerings from Saudi Arabia have been a mixed bag (to say the least), but they loaded up the card with a WrestleMania-worth offering for Crown Jewel 2021, their first show in the Gulf state since before the start of the pandemic.
Not only did it look good on paper, but it turned out to be the most consistently enjoyable show of the year in practice.
The highlights were the brutal Hell in a Cell blow-off between Edge and Seth Rollins, Xavier Woods winning the King of the Ring tournament finals, the triple-threat Women’s Title match between Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair, Big E’s WWE Title defence over Drew McIntyre, and Brock Lesnar’s highly anticipated Universal Title showdown with Roman Reigns.
Add to that Goldberg having his best match in forever with Bobby Lashley, Mansoor and Mustafa Ali putting on a clinic, and no real duds, and you have the recipe for a great time (providing you ignore all of the moral issues these shows tend to bring up, that is.)
