For much of 2024, Drew McIntyre was embroiled in a personal rivalry with CM Punk. The pair feuded for months on end and wrestled a trilogy of matches, ending with an acclaimed war inside Hell In A Cell at the Bad Blood 2024 PLE in a storyline that was applauded as one of the best of the whole year.
In an interview with The Daily Mail, McIntyre spoke on the success of the feud and stated that even with their real life heat, they both acknowledged the magic they had in the ring with one another.
“As much as we have certain feelings towards each other, we both are aware we’ve got certain magic with each other. It’s a tale as old as time. The more people have a genuine disdain for each other, people can truly feel it. And if you’re actually good at your job, like we are, it does create magic. And the whole process was magic, and the cell itself was a match that we talked about forever.”
McIntyre also touched upon the respect he has for Punk for the fact that he accepted and ate all of the abuse and insults that McIntyre threw his way both on TV and on social media. It was reported last month that WWE views McIntyre as a major player in 2025, with a big push expected. Sign up to the Cultaholic Wrestling Newsletter now
