EXCLUSIVE: Sami Callihan Reveals Why He Departed IMPACT Wrestling

Sami Callihan details why he left IMPACT Wrestling with Cultaholic Wrestling's Tom Campbell

After six years with the promotion, Sami Callihan exited IMPACT Wrestling when his deal expired on September 30. Callihan is officially a free agent for the first time in 10 years.

Speaking with Cultaholic Wrestling's Tom Campbell, Callihan revealed why he exited IMPACT.

"It was one of those things where I broke my leg, my contract got extended. My contract was supposed to end in December of last year and I don't think just me, I think the office itself, I think we all kind of forgot like time was running. It was kind of a decision that happened rather quickly. We started talking about negotiations with my contract. We just couldn't come to terms," Callihan stated.

"I have no hard feelings with IMPACT. I love IMPACT. Still my friends, still my family. Hope they do extremely well, but it was time for me to move on. We had talks, couldn't come to terms. That's the easiest way to put it because there is no hard feelings. We just couldn't agree on a new contract. There's a lot of stuff they are doing right now that I feel like there's so much of the budget going so many different places and I fell into a point where right when my contract ended, probably wasn't the best place to end a contract as far as negotiations go."

During his run with IMPACT, Callihan became a one-time IMPACT World Champion. He also had memorable programmes with the likes of Eddie Edwards, Moose, and The Design. Callihan led his own faction in oVe too.

Callihan has plenty of options following his IMPACT exit and there is reportedly lobbying within All Elite Wrestling for the company to bring The Death Machine in.

Callihan also runs Wrestling REVOLVER. The promotion is running a double-header from the Calumet Center in Dayton, Ohio on Sunday, October 8. The REVOLVER Women's Grand Prix with special ambassador Renee Paquette will begin at 3 pm local time before REVOLVER Redemption at 8 pm. That show will be headlined by Jon Moxley vs. Gringo Loco in a Lucha Street Fight.
