Gable Steveson Drafted To WWE Raw

The Olympic sensation is going straight to main

The WWE Draft continued on last night’s edition of Raw, and as is tradition, featured a massive surprise as Olympic wrestling Gold medalist Gable Steveson was drafted to the Red brand.

Steveson was signed by WWE in September after being courted by both WWE and UFC, with the 125kg freestyle wrestling Gold medalist dubbed by some as potentially the next Kurt Angle or Brock Lesnar.

There is no word yet on when Steveson will make his in-ring debut, with Steveson signing a unique deal with WWE that will allow him to continue his collegiate career in Minnesota before transitioning full-time to profesional wrestling.

Steveson’s deal with WWE isn’t set to officially begin until May when the collegiate wrestling season ends, but in the mean time Steveson will be training at a purpose-set-up facility to get him ready for life in WWE.

WWE clearly have high hopes for Steveson, allowing him to bypass traditional developmental, whilst also allowing him to earn money through WWE endorsements while still competing in college - a WWE first.
