Members of WWE creative were seemingly wishing they could run as fast as they can to catch the Gingerbread Man, just so they could get him off WWE TV.
The Gingerbread Man has been a prominent part of Friday Night SmackDown in recent weeks, being involved in the feud over the United States Championship between Sami Zayn and Trick Williams. The Gingerbread Man was seemingly killed off on last week's SmackDown, though, as Sami Zayn laid out the delicious 6 ft biscuit with a vicious beatdown. Tonight's episode of SmackDown will feature a funeral for the Gingerbread Man.
According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, there were a number of members of the WWE creative team who pushed against the heavy use of the Gingerbread Man on SmackDown, with one source close to creative calling it "hokey and archaic." There was also pushback from the creative team while the direction of the Sami Zayn vs. Trick Williams programme was being discussed within WWE.
It is unknown who came up with the idea for the Gingerbread Man to appear on WWE TV, but Paul "Triple H" Levesque is ultimately the head of WWE creative in his role as chief content officer. The final say on WWE creative is held by TKO CEO Ari Emanuel and TKO President Mark Shapiro.
