After 31 years, Homicide's professional wrestling career is over and 'Notorious 187' went out with a win on his 48th birthday.

Homicide teamed with Bull James against Mike Santana and Afa Jr. in his retirement match on Thursday, March 20 at Outlaw Wrestling 'End of an Era' in Brooklyn, New York. The match initially ended in a DQ after Afa hit Bull James with the Outlaw Wrestling Title but Homicide demanded the match be restarted with no disqualifications. Being his retirement match, the official agreed and Homicide picked up the win for his team with an Ace Crusher to Afa.

After the match, the locker room emptied to pay tribute to Homicide as the former ROH World Champion embraced Bull James, Mike Santana, Julius Smokes, and Jay Lover, among others. It was then announced that Homicide was the first inductee into the Outlaw Wrestling Hall of Fame and he was presented with a plaque by his original trainer and 1980s NWA star Manny Fernandez.

During his speech, Homicide thanked the fans and everyone involved with his retirement match. Homicide then closed out his final promo with "F*ck the Mets" as Frank Sinatra's 'New York, New York' filled the arena.

Homicide announced he would retire on March 20 due to a cyst on his brain which has begun to affect his speech and vision. Tributes have poured in for Homicide since announcing his retirement from the likes of Eddie Kingston, CM Punk, Will Ospreay, and Bryce Remsburg. Ring of Honor also put together a timeline video narrated by Eddie Kingston in honour of Homicide.

Homicide was one of the faces of ROH during the promotion's early years and he was ROH World Champion for 56 days after winning the belt from Bryan Danielson at Final Battle 2006. Homicide also enjoyed success in TNA as part of LAX, holding the X-Division Title, as well as the NWA World Tag Team Championships and TNA World Tag Team Titles with Hernandez.
