Whilst Hulk Hogan reportedly thinks he was soundly booed on the January 6 episode of WWE Raw due to politics, many believe his past racist remarks were the primary reason for the negative reception inside the Intuit Dome.

WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry seems to believe the latter was the cause of the vitriol heard on Raw’s Netflix debut, saying the following to TMZ Sports:

“Right now, with the social climate and the things that he’s said and done and lack of effort to try to fix it, people are gonna come down him. I never had an issue with him before I heard all of the stuff. Even then, I believe they’ve given him second chances. Anybody that knows me knows that I’m a ‘fix it’ person. I’m not gonna dwell on the negative. I’m not gonna talk about the past. We’re going forward. He never wanted to go forward and fix it. That’s what happens when you think that everything is gonna go away. It’s not gonna go away,” said Henry.

Asked whether he’s talked to Hogan about past racially insensitive remarks, Henry offered the following:

“He thinks it’s gonna go away. That it’s not gonna be that dark cloud over his career. I offered to say hey, let's do a tour of the black colleges and law schools and explain what happened. He didn’t want to do that,” said Henry.

Hogan has publicly leaned more into politics in the last 12 months, having been a key face of Donald Trump's campaign for the United States presidential election, while Hogan made insensitive statements about Kamala Harris ahead of the election. Hogan has also promoted his Real American Beer across the United States in 2024 and has twice been pictured with neo-Nazis at meet-and-greet events for the brand.
